I am going with rat.

This was my fear but I think it was just a small pine/red squirrel 🐿

At first I thought cat or fox, but decided on fox since I think I see nail prints. But when compared beside the chicken print now I am thinking maybe a member of the weasel family especially as a hole was dug. Do you have a field camera you could set up?

We do have some deer cams but my son stated it looked like a squirrel 🐿 print and I did see a small red/pine squirrel running around there this morning.

How old is the chicken that made the track for comparison? The picture next to the chicken track makes it seem fairly big if that is a grown chicken.

Agreed, if it is a full-grown chicken then it would be pretty hard to believe it's an animal as small as a squirrel or rat, considering squirrels and rats don't have giant feet. Their prints would be a lot smaller

Not a fox. They have a dogs gate. That is more likely squirrel or rodent. Maybe even weasel

Looks like a rabbit or maybe squirrel . The large back feet are in front of the small front feet. They put their front feet down and then the back feet come up and then down in front without moving the front feet.
