Hello, my silkie hen "Gerri" has not had much luck lately. She has a terrible sore/injury on her rear. I have given her a bath, and have been putting Neosporin on it. Its a lesion about a quarter in size. The other hens in the coop must have picked on her for a day or so, before I noticed she was bleeding. She is indoors and being kept warm. She is eating, drinking, and pooping fine. No more bleeding. The lesion looked a little oozy tonight. Layer of pus on top. I know thats healing, but is there an antibiotic I can put her on so she doesn't get an infection? I could only keep it so clean. Its near her vent and I don't know if its better to keep it moist or let it scab. If she lays an egg, she may open it up again. If there is an antibiotic I could use, please let me know and where I could get it, I'll run out in the morning. Thanks!!

Stop all layer mash (feed) your giving to her this may make the eggs she layes smaller and makes it less likely to open the wound keep up the salve your putting on her and one thing you can try BLU COAT it works wonders you can get it at most feed stores. it will turn her fanny purple but will help. WARING: It dies anything it touches puple although it washes of hands with soap. Put some Blu Coat in a OLD bowl you don't care about and dip the end of a paper-towel in the bowl. Gently appy as needed it does burn so don't be surprised if she throws a fit. Hope this works
