I realize that most muscovies arent alike, but I assume that there is some basic list of colors/patterns.

So far I have come up with:

White

Black

Blue

Chocolate

Lavender

Barred

Blue Ripple

Chocolate Ripple

Dark Ripple

Black Pied

Buff

Blue Pied

If anyone has anything to add, PLEASE do so.

Are you refering to the solid in the above? What about Duclair and pied patterns? Or the white ones with black caps?

OHHH! And dont forget Mottled. Hmm... Can bibbed be a pattern for the colors too?? Ive seen plenty of solid colored scovies with the white bibs or white speckled chests.

These are the ones I know of. And not all are recognized & some are nick-names that have been given to birds with a certain look.

Colors:
-White

-Black
-Blue
-Silver
-Lavendar(also called Self-Blue i think)

-Chocolate
-Blue Fawn
-Lilac(i believe the lighter BF's are called this)
-Buff
-Cream
-Faiogeno (Sepia) dilution

Types/Patterns:
-Solid
-Barred
-Ripple
-Laced
-Pied & Duclair Pied
-White Headed
-"Black Caps"
-Bibbed (seen a lot of these and know it's a breedable trait)
-Mottled

I feel like I'm forgetting something...

So each of the above colors can have ANY of those patterns? (with the exception of white?)

I would really like to see a "Black Cap" one if anybody has a picture or a link!!

The "Black Caps" are white birds that usually molt out but i have seen some older birds that kept the cap. Pied birds will also sometimes have a black(or colored) cap too. And yes i think that most colors come in those patterns (someone correct me if i'm wrong though)

Here's some 'capped' Juvy Muscovies (from google)

Sorry everyone, i havent been paying attention! Schaman, do you have a picture of that? In the back of my mind I am thinking is a black bird with the brownish chest?

ETA: I found this but can't find a picture

Sepia, faiogeno. . f. . Recessive. A dilutor of both red and black pigment. Influences skin color. The cuckling is khaki-colored with pink beak and yellow feet. Adults are sepia with beetle-green sheen. There is much variation in the coloration of adults. This gene is thought to be rare in North America.

Sepia pictures..

There is an black and white photo in the book, Poultry Breeding and genetics.
You can also look for photos of the Australian "bronze" Muscovies because they are likely also Sepia colored..

I have three sepia colored muscovies wich are more light brown.

Sepia hen with white head (not sure if she also is barred..)
