what are chicken saddles and do they help

what are chicken saddles and what do they help? i have a silkie who had enough of a roo and just wondering if these would help her

from my understanding.. a saddle is for the Back of the hen-SO that when the roo pounces om her he doesn't cut her up with his spurs. This "saddle" protects her feathers and her skin from being blugeoned to death over and over..
