For the most part, it's obvious who's a cockerel but I haven't figured out all the breeds that I received with my McMurray rare breed assortment. And then there are a few who are so gorgeous, even though I know what they are, I just want to share.

#1 I have 3 who are identical, from what I've read, are they salmon favorelle? I know they're all pullets, thankfully!

#2 Pullet but what?

#3 Polish cockerel but he's just too gorgeous not to share

#4 Cuckoo maran pullet that I was lucky enough to find through craigslist

#5 Buckeye pullet, same craigslist purchase (BTW, one of the 5 from that purchase is laying dark brown, speckled eggs. Barnevelder, Buckeye or cuckoo maran?)

#6 Barnevelder pulls, same craigslist purchase. I know they're hatchery stock but I was still thrilled to get them for $5/ea!

#7 Pullet that has me stumped

#8 Unknown pullet- very flighty and fast

#9- I did save the best for last. Isn't she gorgeous? I assume she's a blue cochin?

Thanks for looking & guessing.

#1 Salmon faverolle (hatchery quality)
#2 looks like a silver penciled hamburg
#7 black sumatra
#8 has the same coloration as my welsummer, but that's probably not what she is

my cuckoo maran lays dark speckled brown eggs- so maybe that's who is laying yours. Very pretty cochin

Thanks for your input. It's so exciting finally getting help to figure out what they are. #1, I couldn't get a great look as her comb is fairly small.

#1 can't be a Faverolle - Faverolles have feathered feet!

#2 fayoumi - or maybe silver campine

#3 - HE"S LOVELY!!!

#4 - she looks really nice for hatchery (mine do not have such nice barring)- hope she lays some nice dark eggs for you!

#7 - I agree it looks like a sumatra

there are several hens that have this color (welsummer, leghorn etc.. ) - but I am gonna go with turken lady cuz she seems to know her stuff!

beautiful blue cochin too!

congrats on your craigslist finds & all your beautiful birds!

Thank you! I think so too. Raising chicks is such a funny business with its highs and lows. Right after they arrived, we lost *7* and I was devastated! Now it's so rewarding to have them getting to be full grown and starting to get a few more eggs again.
