What are my chickens doing

I have 12 chickens and when you walk past them some of them squat down and tap their feet. They even do this in evening when I let them out in yard. What are they doing.
 
From what I have read no expert for sure, they are ready to start laying thats the posture they take when the are ready for a roo. Your the roo lol!
Now let's wait for the experts and see if my guess is right.

Super not sure how I like being a roo because we dont have one just 12 hens for eggs. Wait till I tell my husband..
 
Yup, this started happening with a couple of my hens after the cockerel died, espescially when I put them away at night - instead of being herded into the coop they stop and squat in front of me so I have to pick them up and physically put them away!
 
Yep, she is posturing to accept a rooster, surrending herself to you. Several of mine do the same thing and I will gently grab her by the back of the neck then scratch her back. Then watch as she gets all fluffed up and shakes herselve off all happy and content.
