OK, so I just adopted these two pullets who are about 9 months old and was curious as to which kind they were. I was thinking one is a Buff Orpington and the other is a New Hampshire Red. Am I correct on either?

Thanks for the help!

Picture on the second one a tiny bit blurred - does the bird have single comb?

If so, I'm thinking RIR on the second one, buff orp. on the first. Both hens, not a saddle feather in sight.

Well, my friend that I work with gave them to me, and he got them as day olds back around Halloween of 2010. And he told me that the red one laid in egg while he was in the coop getting them to bring to me this morning. So unless he saw wrong I'd say they are both hens. He has never heard any of them crow and has been getting eggs from them all for months now. He was my egg supplier before I got my own laying hens.

Yeah it is a single comb.

I really think RIR, but I'm no expert on the breed.

I do know a rooster when I see one though and that they are not.
