All those baby chicks???!!!!!! I'm on a couple facebook groups where folks are hatching great big Brinsea cabinet incubators full of chicks. Anybody here incubating like this? I wouldn't have thought there would be enough interest or profit in it but I guess there must be!

when breeding for perfection hundreds of chicks need hatching to only get a few good ones

the rest are classed as culls

culls can be sold as pets, kept or sold as meat birds, what ever the breeder wants and what ever the buyer intends

sometimes breeders will get a good outcome and sell the chicks that are good quality as show breeds

and sometimes the cull pullets get sold off as family pet egg layer after all you don't need a great looking bird to get eggs

Some folks hatch chicks of the same or similar quality as the typical retail hatcheries or birds sold in feed stores. However, lots of folks desire high quality, standard bred poultry. Yes, there is a demand and these small, specialty hatcheries can supply a need.

Get rich? Hardly. Cover their costs? Perhaps.
