What are some safe hanging plants for over my chicken run?

Thank you all so much for your helpful replies. I think I will try the scarlet runners, the climbing nasturtium, and a passion fruit vine.

maclady ... I am intrigued by your chicken forage mix, what was it called? Gerhard

Here is where I found the chicken forage blend I am using. http://www.groworganic.com/omega-3-chicken-forage-blend-irrigated.html I know Sand Hill Preservation Center also has seed mixed for chicken forage. Go to their website, the seed catalog, then chicken treats and they have a bunch toward the bottom of page. I think I may order some stuff from them to plant out a raised bed I have for them that will empty out here soon. I will post a link to the page but not sure if it will work. I am new to trying to post links in stuff. http://www.sandhillpreservation.com/catalog/specialty.html Hope some of this helps.

are you able to use hop vines as an outside climber for shade? Have some I can take starts off of. And, no, I won't get my chickies drunk. Promise.

I read somewhere that hops vines were ok for the chickens. Funny thing is I grew one a few years ago then found out the mother in law was allergic to them. Well she also hates chickens also soooooo.........

Do the chickens eat the tomato plant or just the tomatoes that fall to the ground? I planted a cherry tomato into a pot but I only planted it for the chickens. Thought I would hang the bunches from the fencing for them. Will that work?

How about food for everyone....raspberry, blueberry, service berry, elderberry, mulberry, siberian pea shrub etc. They are not vines per se but will cover the fence and you wont have to plant them every year.
