What are the best chicken breeds for starters?

I don't think Phoenix's are the right breed for her. Their tails, too... imagine having that much tail!

My boys are surprisingly nimble. They lose their feathers more to molting than to being stepped on.

She settled on Buff Orpington, Ameraucana and (possibly) Australorp.
She'll be getting them this spring!
