Hi everyone!! I’m trying to figure out if I bought good layers or not, so I thought I’d ask you guys! I have 11 Rhode Island reds! 1 green-legged portridge (I believe), 1 Araucana, 1 austrolorp, and 1 what you guys believe to be a Cornish cross (but he was a mistake, the worker gave me the wrong one)

To give you an idea, White Leghorns are one of the absolute best layers, coming in at around 280-320 per year. Austrolorps lay between 250-300 per year while Rhode Island Reds lay between 200-300 eggs a year. Partridges lay between 140-180 a year and Auracanas lay 150-180 per year. The Cornish Cross is gonna be your lowest laying chicken. Don't expect more than 160 a year from her. All in all, you have a very good egg laying flock!

I have a pen of 7 cornish that layed 5 eggs today.... The stats say that they lay small eggs. Is 3 7/8 ounces a small egg? Yes I have one that I should take a good picture of. Most all of the eggs from my cornish are at least large and a lot are jumbo. Mine are laying at a rate of about 160 eggs a year now. Once they are fertile they will be hatched.
