Hey guys, I have a flock of silkies and seramas and I've had them for several years. Last year we inherited 2 female pygmy babies and now I need to 'replant' the chicken yard. What is the best grass and plants to put out for the chickens this spring? The goats will no longer be grazing with the chickens so I need some really good nutritious plants to put out Thanks! Chickweed! I know it's a weed, but there's a reason it's named that, and it grows so fast all you'd need are a few clippings and you'd have a feast for you girls in no time. But if you dont want a weed, then just some simple lettuce, or clover like was suggested above is definitely a favorite.

I grow wheat grass for my girls all the time. Let the seeds soak in water overnight and sow - not very deep and in just a few days you have grass that is 3 - 4 inches high. They love it.
