What are the best materiels for building a chicken tractor?

We're looking to build a chicken tractor (or two

) and while we don't want to spend a fortune, cost comes after functionality. What would you all recommend for building materials? PVC pipe? Plain ol' lumber? Chicken wire vs. mesh? Hoop house style with hog panels? Wheel size?
If anybody could fill me in on the fire points of tractor construction, I'd be very appreciative. Thank you!

I built an 8' by 4' chicken tractor with free wood I found on Craig's List. The hardware still ended up costing me $142. It depends where you live, but we used hardware cloth on the bottom half and chicken wire on the top. I made a 5' x 10' tractor out of pvc pipe and plastic netting. It cost me about $60 but I had a lot of netting left over. It is not predator proof at all but it will protect my girls from hawks and that is my main concern during the day. It is really light, no wheels or anything but my four year old son can help me move it.
