What are the DQs in Silkies

One thing that could help you greatly is to get a Standard of Perfection that is put out by the APA. It will list all of the DQs and faults to look for in the breeds as well as the color patterns.

If you are going to show I would also reccomend that you join the breed club of the breed that you are interested in. Plus ask lots of questions, most breeders are happy to share info as new people coming into the fancy is it's future.

Vulture hocks are the stiff feathers behind the knees there. Think of Sultans or D'uccles which need vulture hocks, but other featherfooted breeds have them creep into the gene pool where they are unwanted. For instance vulture hocks are also a DQ for Brahmas.
