What are the possibilities with this cross?

I have two crevecour pullets. Next year I plan to get some more crevecours so I can raise purebreds I will have to order chicks to do this as I can find no one who has crevecours. So I wont be able to breed them till 2010 or late 2009 at the earliest.
I was watching the chickens the other day and noticed that my SSHamburg roosters are about the same size and kind of have a simaler body shape and I started thinking. Hmmm What would I get if I crossed a SS Hamburg Rooster to my Poofy headed Black Crevecour pullets next spring what would I get?
It would be cool if I could get the SSHamburg color with the crest from the Crevecour.
Is this a possibility? or what do you think I would get?

Every time that I have crossed a crested bird with a non-crested birds, the offspring dont have much in the way of a crest.... just a short (1/2 inch) swept back Elvis hairdo.
I'd like the silver spangle look on the Crevecour!

Maybe you could pick up a polish rooster to cross with your hens. Same crest, same comb, similar body types. This time of year there should be lots of folks trying to get rid of extra males. I have a big white polish rooster that Id give you if you were closer. LOL

Dh Would kill me if I brought home any more this year especially since I keep the crested ones locked up. We did have a white polish hen but she dissapeared the second day we had them out free ranging, so then I caught these two and put them in a tractor.Today I moved the tractor into the big chicken house, the other chickens are all sitting on it and pooping so I think I might have to mix them again.
Do you have problems letting your crested birds free range?

A lot of crested birds cannot see well, due to the funky hairdo's! It might also be the fact that she was white. I had 3 BTW jap babies, 2 cockerels and 1 pullet, and 6 white silkie babies, that all lived in a tractor together. They would free range daily. The BTW jap cockerels dissappeared on two consecutive days, presumably by hawks. The silkies are all still here, as they usually hide under a vehicle or bush. The BTW pullet has since been rehomed.
A white bird is an easy target to any predator.
