I am just curious because I sent this to MPC and they said that some fruits and veggies will make them stop laying. Is it any of these? I feed them spinach, carrots, nectarines, peaches, tomatoes, and grapes. Will any of these effect their laying? If not what fruits and veggies?

wow now i'm curious. I feed my poultry and peacocks veggies and fruit and it made my peacocks star laying again and my chickens start laying more. I would hate to feed them one that would make then stop laying.

Nah, that's not true. Old wives tail. I do know that to be healthy layer they need calcium and protein.

That is good to know. I am so relieved.

IMO, the only way fruits and vegetables can interfere with the egg laying is if they are eating so much of them that their entire nutritional intake gets out of balance. Not taking in enough protein and calcium is what will stop the egg laying.

Glad to hear it's not true. One of the hatcheries (I think it's Meyer in Ohio) states in their catalogue that feeding hens fruit will make them stop laying. I stopped feeding them my scraps at that point because I didn't want to take a chance.
