Observed my spring pullets yesterday: a couple were charging each other like bulls... head down and running right at the other (playing chicken, lol). It was a bit aggressive but seemed more like testing or play as there wasn't much follow through...
I'm just guessing the young ones are working on a pecking order among themselves before they fully integrate with the flock (since they still are more likely to hang with each other than the older hens).
It's cute how when I toss the flock some treats - the tweens may try for a bite but then I'll see them all race into the coop and eat out of the feeder.. like: 'everyone is eating and we must too - but we don't want to get pecked so we'll go in here'
