What are these weirdos doing

They don’t roll around so they aren’t doing a dust bath… they just occasionally seem to become paralyzed in the sun and then puff up and pancake out. Sometimes they do it as a small group sometimes it’s solo… if they do it when I am not looking my heart sinks into my butt when I see them laying there. They are perfectly fine before during and after… it’s just so strange!

They are relaxing and it is a sociable things doing it with their flock mates. Love to watch chickens do that.

Don't do it. My cat likes to join the hens and this is what happens- she is a black cat.
