What are these?

Thank you Gray Farms. Writing is not my strong suit ...you think he's a production red? Looks like lacing on his wings.

Yes he does look like a Production Red to me. Its not really lacing, its just black marking. He'll molt it out later for solid red feathers.

No hope he'll stay this color? He's absolutely Beautiful! He's so sweet, he perches on my finger. Really hoping he stays that way.

Was told they sent New Hampshire reds. Who really knows except the person who put them in the box right. They have to go. I have pullets coming this week so I'll keep 1-2. But these guys are bullying my ducks!
Production red is just a term for red birds not bred to the standard for RIR or New Hampshire but rather bred with an emphasis on productivity. They tend to be lighter bodied for feed efficiency. Your chicks very well could be New Hampshire as far as the hatchery is concerned but I'd bet they are a production strain of NH whether they were labeled that way or not.

And yes, the black is baby camouflage and temporary. He may well have a black tail and neck ticking later but no lacing.

I was hoping you'd say he was a mixed breed and that would be his color lol..
My bantam hen is still changing, she was black at hatch, than birchin now she has red leaking through... Lol

I have a blue birchen EE with red leakage and bright white ears. I think she's gorgeous, myself. If you like funky colors, EEs are terrific for that.
