Hi! all

I had a post on another forum and as the discussion proceeded, i was asked what kind of chickens did i have and how old they were.

Since this are rescued chickens and i never had any before, i could not answer.

So here is me hopping some of you may be able to help me.

Sorry pictures are the best, i gave the numbers for each chicken.

#1 looks like a RIR or sex link but I can't tell from the tail. She looks to be around a year old, maybe older. Can't see her legs.
#3 looks like a Delaware, could be a bad light Brahma but again, I can't see the legs. Head doesn't look right for Brahma.
Can't see #2 (Silkie mix?) or #4 well enough to know.
Can't tell you about #5 but #6 is a blue Copper Marans...maybe. Her face isn't quite right but she looks like 6 months old.
#7 is one sick fella. Put him in isolation and give treatment.

That is my best guesses. Can't say I am right though.

Thanks, sorry didn't know you could tell by the legs...

7, trust me his not sick, just the way the photo come out

if you look at him on the other photos his just fine..

6 is a he, he's quiet big and there's a black female that is huge and looks to be the same as him. Feathers are like multi coloured, like when we see an oil spill, it makes all those colours.

We were told they were all got at the some time from chicks, that is all we know about them.

We've only had them since just before Xmas and they are still in a temp pen as the weather's been to bad to get the field for their pen ready, but they are doing much better, put on weight and are becoming friendly.

Just have no idea what they are or how old...

1 is a red sex link. She looks just like my three. The other looks like a lite brahma. We have one. Cant tell for sure, are the legs feathered? If they are it is. Delawares hackle feathers look lighter and they dont have feather legs. Not sure on the rest. Good luck!

See if i can make this better

Nr 1 - I this they are those common red ones, They are very friendly and curious.

Nr 2- They are tiny, with feathers down their legs.

Nr 3 - Is white with grey feather on her neck and tail and has feathers on her legs

Nr 4 - She's quite big, the some breath as the cock on nr 6, multi coloured feathers, like when we see an oil spillage on the road and the oli makes all those colours and black legs.

Nr 5- He's a big cock same as chicken nr 4, legs are black

Nr 6 - She's mostly grey

Nr 7 - He's white, no feathers on his legs and white earlobes that picture is really bad and i can see why he looks sick, but he isn't

, but he's in a few of the pictures.

Nr 8 - She a little one that always hides that looks like a female pheasant.

I've been going in and out like a yhoo-yhoo today, should try better pictures

#2 Cross Bred

#5 Could be a Rose Comb Leghorn (Need to see Leg Color)
#6 Could be a game cross (need better picture of her)
#7 Need better picture

Guesses.....

sex link hen
silkie mix? looks pretty big
hmm.png

can't tell if it's a Delaware or Sussex....something colombian colored
big_smile.png

Australorp hen
Are five and six Andalusians? White lobes, kinda light bodies...not very familiar with this breed.
What color are the white roos earlobes? They look white in one pic, but his body doesn't seem right for a leghorn. I agree, that pic by himself he looks miserable! But I see him normal in the other pics.
last hen has some silkie in her, mixed with ?

Edited--I'm not sure the black hen and roo are the same breed--does the hen have white earlobes? I think she's an australorp and he's an Andalusian. I think proportionally she's a lot bigger than him, also.

5 and 6, they are so diferent from eachother, hard to think they are the same?

The one you think may be and leghorn, does have white earlobes, maybe he is still under nourished, like I said they are doing much better, but are still some way away from being, well at least being the way i'l like to see them.

my guesses:

1) Sex link/golden comet
2) cross breed - polish cross
3)Brahama
4) ? need better photo
5) I would not say andalusian - too dark
6) She looks like a blue andalusian that my friend got from a hatchery
7) Is that a leghorn?
8) I really wanna know what you end up calling this one cause I have a hen that looks almost exactly the same and have never been able to figure her out (nor can anyone on this board)
