What are they doing with their eggs?!

Hello all,
I have 4 Khaki Campbell ducks almost a year old. Almost a month ago I decided to experiment and left them some eggs to sit on. Two of them became broody. I added eggs and had a total of nine eggs. I started noticing that some of the eggs were missing. Then I added four more eggs. Today there was just one egg in their nest. Two of them alternate sitting on them. I am so confused. I've looked everywhere in their pen and coop and can't find these eggs. There are no cracked shells, no yolks anywhere. Have you experienced this?

Thanks,

mama sirena

It's very likely that something is taking the eggs. The list is endless - snakes, rats, skunks, crows and others will readily steal eggs.

Thanks. I just don't know how another animal is getting into the pen. I guess I will figure it out somehow.

My ducks like to eat the shells. I thought it was the weirdest thing when I first saw them bust open the eggs and run around with shells in their mouths while the other tried to get it!
