When I am trying to catch my chickens they will squat on the ground and shuffle their feet when i put my hands over their head... does anyone know why they do this? My dad said thats what they do when they mate but i have no idea why they would do that when i am just trying to catch them.
Your dad is correct. They squat to mate. They believe you are the rooster. Just scratch their backs near their tail for a few seconds and they will fluff their feathers and walk away happy little girls.
