The chicks are about 2 weeks old. We got them at TSC and believe them to be out of the assorted reds bin. Not really sure if they were Pullets or Straight Run, although they seem to be feathering out fairly fast. They are all single combs. However, Each of their feathers are slightly different. No one chick is feathering out the same color as another. We were thinking sex links but didn't have any colored bands on their backs and their feathers haven't come in white. They also do not seem to be dark enough for RIR. In pictures, RIR chicks look much darker than these guys (or

This chick is different than the rest. The same color as the others but the wings are feathering in white. I also think its a roo. It is the largest and heaviest chick with very little feathering and it is very feisty. It does NOT have a single comb. Looks like either a pea or rose comb.

This chick may be an EE but it doesn't look like any of the EE's that we have raised. So it sort of has me guessing. It also has a pea or rose comb, and its legs are turning green which i know is a characteristic of an EE. Anyone ever have an EE start off like this?

I bought the same ones at TSC, and also some of the red ones and am wondering also what they are.

I have an EE similar to your white & grey one. She turned out to be beautiful, so I hope that is true for you too. Not too many other chicks out there with green legs. The others are probably some type of sex link, golden comet, etc. You will have fun that's for sure.

I have a chick that hatch about 2 or 3 weeks ago under a broody hen and he hatched from a green egg. He looks just like chic number 1
I don't have ANY delawares? Any ideas?

Actually they aren't to young to be sexed. I was once told (by someone who inspects chickens at chicken houses) that the females(even chics) will have longer feathers than males, unless the feathers are all clipped. I have found this to be true in all of my experiences. And it looks like #4 is a roo. Hope this helps. I have a friend who's dad sexes chics holding a piece of copper over them. If it goes straight, it's a male. If it makes a circle, it's a female. She swears by it.
