They sell kits at Lowes/Home Depot of plastic kits you can shrink wrap (with a blow dryer) onto your windows for a little extra insulation. We'll be doing that this year as we have the original windows from when the house was built in the 20s.

I am in the process of making Christmas wrapping paper .I went to our local newspaper and asked for an "end of the roll" newsprint....maybe they range from 2 to 6 dollars and it will last FOR EVER!! ...I use my dollar store stencils and dollar store paint....plus i have alot of old paint left from past crafty projects...and I make Xmas wrapping paper....its cheaper and I always can make some up for Birthdays etc......and its personal......Use your imagination....

I plan all my families meals for the month and only grocery shop once a month, (except milk and produce) This saves a lot of money because you stay out of the grocery store shopping for things you don't really need. If you have your menu planned out it saves you from eating out because you don't know what to fix.

That paper is also great for:

making /copying dress patterns onto and making alterations,

used for quilting as a stablizer when you are strip piecing

covering school books

lining shelves

another tip to help stretch:

Fabric softner! I dont know about you all but when it comes to fabric softners, I'm spoiled and wont budge on some things

. I LOVE Gain Apple Mango Tango but its soooooooo expensive. So what I do (and it works great btw) is I split the bottle with half water and half softner, so I get 2 bottles for the price of 1 and you cannot tell one ounce of difference because its such a great quality softner (and so is Downy).

When I buy the huge bottles from Sams Club, they last me at least 9 months because I split those in half as well - you know the ones, they say they'll do like 124 loads, now you've doubled it to 248 at a cost of about $15.00!

I also hang my clothes out to dry spring/summer. I sure wish I could do it now

Hate doing it in the fall though when people burn their leaves, ugh that is SO annoying, then your clothes smell all smokey!

I'll trade you the smell of burning leaves for the smell of TONS(really, tons) of turkey poop being spread in all the orchards all the way around our house.

I don't mind the smell of much manure, but that turkey poop.....P.U. It is worse than my meaties!
