Here in Southern CA kale becomes a perennial. So many new and beautiful varieties are available it is one of our favorite garden plants but this is a thread for a different blog. Kale is very good for you as well. Enjoy, DB

My ducks and chickens enjoy Kale. I scatter shredded Kale into the duck pool and scatter whole leaves on the ground for the chickens. Everyone goes nuts. I know it is high in protein so feel it is one of the better greens from the garden to give them.

I grow for the chickens

Swiss Chard
Cabbage
Spinach
Corn on the cob
Sunflowers

It is a blast knowing they are getting organic, pesticide free treats.
Wonderful choices! My chickens love the sunflower leaves as well as the flowers and seeds. I agree that growing healthy produce for the birdies is fun and satisfying.

There has to be more than this to treat our babies with.

Are there any plants, bushes or herbs they would love to nibble on?

That's the thing they nibble on EVERYTHING. Some of it they should not. What they do not take bites out of they scratch up.
What I grow for them is "given" to them not them coming in and taking a bit of this and a bit of that. Red tomatoes are a favorite to take a bite out of each and every one. I grow a cherry tomato plant so I can give them some small ones making sure everyone gets some.
