WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

So I'm new to all of this backyard chicken stuff. Lived on my grandparents chicken farm growing up, but I'm more nervous about messing up my new flock of 10 chickens over the 10s of thousands we had at any given time. I can't wait to give my kids a taste of fun I had as a kids chasing chicks! Have 10 coming in later this week. They are supposed to ship tomorrow! My wife says I'm worse than the kids. I think she may be right!!! So this is what I've got coming:
2 buff orpingtons
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes
2 Rhode Island Reds
2 Black Sex Links
2Barred Plymouth Rock

I've got the brooder ready, the coop ready and putting the finishing touches on the run.

The ladies at Estes Hatchery in Springfield MO were a pleasure to talk to and seemed just as excited as I was about me getting the chicks. Ordered last Friday morning and will be here 1 week later.

Congrats on your new adventure! Post a pic when they arrive!

Hey there Amross03. First,

and the thread!

Sounds to me like you may have a wealth of historical chicken knowledge stored up from your youth! As you peruse the forums here, I'm sure you'll recall a bunch of it, and maybe even pick up a few new tidbits along the way. I'm sure you and your kids will have a blast! I wish I had started while my kids were still with me... Now I have to share the fun with my grand kids instead

Hope they arrive all healthy and happy! Good luck!

First let me start by saying that my coop is being built around July 7th. I have been doing my research here on BYC and asking around about acquiring chicks. My daughter and I took a trip to the nearest Tractor Supply store today and picked up a few things for the impending build and new flock. While I was there I saw a for sale notice on their community bulletin board. I called someone selling chicks and arranged to go right down to see what she had.

So in a couple weeks (I gave her a deposit to hold them for me) I will be the proud owner of 3 black australorps, 3 RIRs and 6 Easter Eggers. YAY! Can't wait.

Way to go Yellowcoop1!

Maybe the seller will throw in an extra to make it a baker's dozen

Well I made the trip to Denver, stayed up all night as one of the shipments would not update. Left at 7am though and by 9am I got the call both boxes of chicks had arrived and were waiting for me. Got there at 11:30 and when I walked in the door I could hear them! Music to my ears after all the heartache of last weeks loss! So 21 in all and they are all doing great. We are back home in Nebraska and they are settled in. All are drinking and eating (I am using the nipple waterer and they went right to it!) Now I am trying to figure out who is what! I havent identified my Welsummers, Easter Eggers, Cream Legbar and Ameraucana. Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts while I traveled today to get them. I knew it should not turn out like last week, but that was so awful I could not go through that again.

My girlfriend and I have four Buff Orpingtons leaving Cackle Hatchery on Wednesday. We are hoping that since we are only two states away in Wisconsin that they will be here on Thursday, we shall see!

We are picking up the last couple things for the brooder tomorrow so we will be ready when they are delivered. Though it was her idea at first, I've found myself getting really excited about them getting here. Will be starting the coop this weekend!
