What does everyone plan on doing next spring for your backyard flocks. We currently have 6 buff orpington hens, 1 buff orpington rooster, 1 buff rock rooster and 2 Easter-egg, 11 week old chicks. My wife would like to add 4 Welsummer chicks, 4 Maran chicks, and 4 more Easter-egger chicks. Our coop has room for 22 chickens so no plans of adding more coops.

I have 2 brahma hens and 6 little buffo's but I want to add delawares and some blue orps. too. My coop is big enough for about the first set so I am going to close in the area we have covered with roofing and they will be room for all of them. We have a 12x20 yard and plan to add to that too.
this is my first year at this without any eggs and I still love it all ready. They are right here it is addicting. Jean

I'm going to build a couple more coops so they chicks I have now can be seperated by breed. Then I'm going to hatch lots of eggies!!

I love it that I'm not the only one who is already planning for spring...

My plan is to hopefully downsize the flock we already have to make room for some new breeds. I want to incubate some of our own EE eggs and I would like to place another order with a hatchery, but my DH probably won't be too pleased with that idea...

i will have to build another small coop..because i want to add some welsummers, cochins, a standard frizzle of ANY breed, and an easter egger....hubby is just gonna love this...

Edited to add: i forgot i also want an australorp and a jersy giant...*sigh* guess it will not be a small coop i'll be building next spring..

Ok, I'll play.. I will have my buff orp flock, 2 white tufted rumpless araucana flocks, a B/B/S araucana flock and a mixed "wild type" araucana flock just for fun and my porcelain pyncheon bantams. I will also continue to work on my projects and helping my partner with some of his breeding programs, depending on how things go this winter.

I'll probably see if anyone local is ordering and add a few chicks to their order. I'm really liking my buff orpingtons and I think I'd like to have a few more. Maybe some more EEs too.
I'll also be gluing chicken feathers all over a couple of nigerian dwarf goats and sneaking them in telling DH they're just really BIG chickens.....

I am going to get some brown egg layers- have not decided what kind yet, some silkies, and if I can get my paws on some Le Fleche I will be giddy!! I am also going to get some geese, maybe some guinea keets

by the time spring comes,, i should have around 200 birds of my own, separated by breed, with 5 hens to each roo, not counting the peafowl, pheasants, and turkey's,, and to have my hatchery all set up to be able to sell 200 or more birds a week without having to buy from hatcheries.
