As for not moving it, yes, it will work. We raised some layers in it over the winter, until a weasel climbed it and pulled back some of the tarp to get in killing the hens. That was a major reason we now surround it with electro-netting. For winter insulation I lined the interior with mulch hay and then broke up a bale at a time for flooring to allow the decomposition of the waste and hay to provide more heat.

We also use a panel hoop and it's by far the best design we have tried so far.

Same here...cattle panel coop and will be using the hay insulation as well. Also have the electro-netting. After the meaties are gone I'll be raising some layers in there. My coop got too heavy during construction to move without using a truck or tractor....I built on some extras that weren't in the original design and soon found myself with a coop that really needs to just stay put~I've moved it only twice now.

I also have a hoop house that is in a permanent spot. My DH put in on a wood floor, wire all over the top to keep the critters out. He put a solid back wall for a window and solid wood front for a door and threw a tarp over it. It works great because when it warm out we can lift the side up to allow fresh air to blow through.
