I had a black Australorp roo who I named, very uncreatively, "Austra." But it fit him. He was elegant and dignified. He has since passed, but he taught me that rooster names should be given in aspirations of what you hope they are like. (I find this to be true with most animals.) For instance, my Dad named his roo Rosco and he was irritating and mean. See?
So, our new EE roo (our favorite chick, also while young), we named him, "Mr. Darcy." I like Masterpiece Theater...what can I say? He fits his name, too. He is one of four EE roos, the only one I will keep, and he is gentle, and a bit of a dandy. Has a hard time hitting it off with the ladies; a bit clumsy. The only other roo we named (because the other 3 roos are going to a friend's place) was Billy Ray Cyrus. He's a terrible crooner.
