What are your Spring 2021 hatching plans?

I know isn’t it awful?? The 2 guineas were a mated pair too and they along with the 2 underage chickens just disappeared when we lost power! The next day I went to check on everyone cuz I couldn’t lock up their coop (we live in the middle of the woods so no power means no light whatsoever). I’m not sure what got them cuz there wasn’t even a little patch of feathers like the 2 that got taken by foxes and the guineas were too big to have been picked up by a hawk.

If the power goes out here I just grab a flashlight.

Well, a guy I went to high school with asked me if he could have some laying hens. I’m not selling anyone from my flock, but I told him I could hatch eggs from them and sell him chicks. They’re all going to be mutts, but he said that was alright. So, guess who’s gonna put 22 eggs in the incubator Friday? This guy

I suppose and I’ll get $8 dollars a chick out of it because he’s not wanting them until they’re 9 weeks old. I’m going to be stuck with the cockerels, though.

It’s not technically spring yet, and this wasn’t planned, but I’ve got a broody that I’m letting hatch some mixed breed eggs now.

I have two RIR cockerels I would like to breed with my white leghorns for red sex linked chicks. Leghorns just started laying and the RIRs just started mating. Cant wait!!!
