Hi everyone,
I had 2 Silkies attacked and killed the other day, approximately about the same time. I was in the house most of the day, didn’t hear a thing. When I went outside to put them in for the night, two were missing. My husband went and looked and found where they had been “taken” to and he said there was a big pile of feathers and no body parts or blood, just feathers.
Anyway, he thinks it was a coyote. My question is, do coyotes kill this way? Leave feathers and then take the body? It just doesn’t sound right to me. Any other ideas of what it could be? Hawk?
Thanks so much,
Lynn

I'm sorry for your loss. an you get pictures of your coop and general location? Coyotes do de feather b8tds they catch, so it could be.
Hi nuthatches, Here are some pics. They were foraging behind the coop re: last picture when they were taken

Just feathers left and no body mean 4 legged critter like coyotes, fox, bobcat.
Large hawk could take one, but not 2 at a time.
Now that whatever it was had found a source for easy meal, it will return.
Keep the others penned and put a couple trail cams up.
You should see your culprit on camera in a couple days.
Sorry for your loss.
