What Book are You Reading Now?

Glad to see this thread revived!

After years of promising myself that I would (because I never miss an episode of the current series on PBS), I finally read "All Creatures Great and Small" last week and totally enjoyed it.

I have an eclectic range of reading materials (and, more than 700 books in my home library. Online is great, but I love REAL books).

My favorite modern fiction writers are Minnesotan William Kent Krueger (whose Sheriff Cork O'Connor solves murders mainly in northern Minnesota and incorporates actual places I've visited) and the very British Rosamunde Pilcher (whose novels, set in Cornwall, make me want to travel there).

My favorite classic is Pearl S. Buck's "The Good Earth," which I got an an auction where I snagged a couple of boxes of books that were being sold from a middle school library. I still haven't read them all, but there are books by Austen, Thomas Hardy, Jack London, Cervantes and Twain.

Also, I enjoy reading about British monarchs of the past. "Rival Queens" by Kate Williams, which I read earlier this month, details the relationship between Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots, her cousin, which ended tragically for Mary.

I added The Names to my wishlist!
It was a "read with Jenna" pick (I think...?) Also on her list was Chain Gang All Stars, which was another debut novel, and also excellent.

I have not liked books that Oprah picked (sorry, just didn't), but Jenna and I seem to have similar tastes in fiction.
