If I could "go back and do it all over again," I would have joined the military. I admire our servicemen and women and wish I had one scrap of their self-discipline and honor.

Thank you for all you have done (and continue to do) for our country. You are truly heroes, all of you.

My grandfather was in the Army in WWII , my dad was Navy in Vietnam, I was Army, I've got 2 brothers who were Navy and 1 that was a Marine, we pretty much have all the real armed forces covered

US Army, 25th Infantry (my patch on their shoulders in the movie "Platoon"), 1963-1966. Not the brightest days of my life.

You are quite welcome for my service, but just remember you said that when the flaming left-wing radical in me escapes!

[edit] Oh, yeah, and since it seems to be the fashion to bring in our ancestors, my dad served as an Army grunt in WWI (yes, that is a 1). He was also a radical left-wing organizer, so I come by all of that honestly!

I forgot to say:
My Daddy, and his Daddy were in the Marine Corps. My Mama's Daddy was in the Army (The BIG RED ONE). My Mama's brother was in the Army. I regret that I didn't join the Marines. Not just because of my family though. Even though I do think the Marines do have the best looking uniforms.

I retired after serving just over 20 years in the Air Force.

I just want to say to all the spouses who commented about their spouses being in the service, and how they served too, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT that you too served in the military! Cheers to all of you spouses and children who traveled from base to base (or post to post), changed jobs, changed schools, waited for, worried over and put up with your military person and all the baggage that comes along with military life.
