Hello all,

I have a few questions about my turkeys. I originally bought the big white Tom from my local ag store back in February. Looking at him and pictures on the Internet, I believe he is a holland white turkey. I do not have a scale for them but I would guess around 35-40lbs. My plan is to slaughter him, this is my first turkey and I know he is a little big.

Now yesterday I picked up two more turkeys for a price I couldn't pass up. Next to the white Tom they look real small. I'm trying to figure out what kind of turkeys they are. The lady I bought them from also said she bought them from a local ag store around February. Can anyone identify them. I would guess they are in the 20-25 lb range but could be wrong.

I am thinking I wanna keep a Tom and a hen as a mating pair. The hen I got is already laying eggs with the brown Tom in the cage with her, but am curious if it would be better to mate the two whites and get fertile eggs. But I'm worried the white Tom is too big to naturally reproduce. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Nick

Thanks for the info. The one on the top and bottom are the same bird, I just wanted to post pictures of different angles. Since both the white ones are the same breed would they make better poults? Or is it ok to keep the bronze and the white as a pair?

I guess you'll have to wait and watch. Is he able to get his business done? If he's hugely bigger than her he might hurt her but she's probably spry enough to get away. I would hatch the eggs that you have with the bronze tom and see what you get. You might get a nice in-between size turkey.
