This little one came from the assorted bantam bin at TSC, theoretically a Hoover's hatchery chick. Feathered feet but not fluffy cheeks, growth over the last week is sane as my tiny D'Uccle chicks of the same age. I looked through the hatchery's pages and was thinking a buff or maybe red cochin, but the pictures don't show those chicks as being chipmunk, and now there's some black coming in on the wings...

... is my booted bantam also turning out to be a frizzle? Or just growing in a bit rough.

That's a buff cochin. Sometimes buff birds start out with those dark markings, but eventually grow out of them. I don't think she is a frizzle, just growing in her feathers a little funny (one of my cochins did that, and her feathers flattened out).

She can't be a booted bantam. No hatcheries sell booted bantams, so a feed store wont carry them (since feed stores get chicks from hatcheries). Booted bantams are also rather rare.
