What breed and gender ( 4 months ish)

Hi there,
Can someone help us. We just got this wonderful chicken today.
The farm we got it at told us they think it’s a hen but are not sure. Also not sure the breed but they did say it’s 16 weeks old.

The farm lied. 100000% a boy.

Ugh. Thanks for the quick response. ( clearly we are extremity new at this we had no idea). We will call them and hope they take him back as we are not allowed roosters unfortunately. Thank you so much.

I'm so sorry. No hen at 16 week has that big or red of a comb. That is totally a roo. Without any doubt. Bummer.

My tip for adult bird shopping- if you don't want a roo, don't buy anything with a real big + red comb. Or at least get a pro to give ya a second opinion before buying.

Hi!! Thank you for reply. Luckily the farm took him back right away after we told them we had experts take a look and they apologized. We did get another but I hadn’t seen your comment yet. They assured us it was a hen. But the other two we just added her with are not being nice so I’m going to post another thread asking what to do.

Right!!! I’m hoping they are correct about this new one they gave us. They said if anything we can always go back so fingers crossed. My two hens are acting very differently( very mean) with this new one so I’m thinking they may be right this time.
