can anyone tell me what kind of chickens these are ? and if they are roosters or hens? i got the eggs from a fellow back yard chicken enthusiast and they were blue and dark olive green eggs , so i hatched them and this is what came out. he said they were sex links , and somewhere i read only the males have the red ticking and the hens display a solid color is that correct and do these look like them ? thank you for any and all help you can give me .

They all look like roosters. If they were black sexlinks, the hens would be back with some red/gold, and the roosters woud be barred. You cannot use a sexlink to make sexlinks, its a one time thing. He might have had black sexlink hens, but those are not sexlinks. They look like "oive eggers". A cross between a dark brown egg breed (usually Marans) and a bue/green egg breed. Yours look like they have Black Copper Marans in them.

Individual pictures from the side woud help.

X2 Likey Marans/EE crosses, all boys.

thank you all very much . i got some eggs from the same guy and those came out red colored like these guys necks . but before these , some have green legs and muffs like ee's and im getting dark green & blue colored eggs, and some really dark colored brown eggs , so thatwould explain maran cross ? one had black spots on it . so that makes alot of sence . so if i was to cross these guys with my white ones that came fronm the same batch of eggs do you think they would lay the blue/ green eggs?

They would likely lay green if they have EE in them. Not too many EEs lay blue, however I have 2 that do and I believe they are mother and daughter. If breed doesn't matter, experimenting is fun.

ive learned combs have nothing to do with egg color. i had a rooster that had a pea comb and a hen from the same eggs with a pea comb and she laid brown eggs and there babies laid brown eggs. these all look like marans crosses. most likely there offspring will lay brown or olive eggs.

Just because a chicken has a pea comb doesnt mean that they will lay green/blue egg. They first need to have the background for colored eggs. Araucanas, Ameraucanas and EEs with pea combs are highly likely to carry the colored egg gene. If the OPs birds are Marans mixed with any of those, it is likely that any of the birds that have a pea comb also carry the colored egg gene since it is already in the chickens background. But you are right, just because it has a pea comb doesnt mean it will lay a colored egg. I have plenty of pea combed birds, they dont lay a colored egg.
