Hi. I was wondering if any one could tell us the breed of our three black ducks? If you can tell us the gender that would be awesome. We have a dressed duck named Bob Ross we would like to know what gender he is. We all so have a goose named Gloria, we don't know if she is a boy or girl.

Off the bat, I see two Ancona's, One Black Swedish, and at their age, you'll easily be able to tell the gender by their voice, females QUACK, males sounds raspy. Geese are a little trickier when it comes to sexing, you'll have to go off by voice and the way it acts unless you vent sex or wait for an egg. Males tend to have high pitch screams, females tend to give off a low oink, oink's. Males also have a more upright posture compared to females, and tend to have a more tight abdomen area.

If you upload a video of your goose talking to Youtube or Vimeo, I may be able to tell the gender, I have a few Hatchery Africans myself, so I have some experience what males and females will sound like.

I am so excited I guessed Ancona but had to go look them up. Didn’t you say Ancona wear a little black cap?

Most do, but what differentiates them from Magpie's is their coloring is more speckled, while Magpie's have more solid patterns. Ancona first, Magpie second.
