They gave a mystery chick to my 5yo at a restaurant that had many different chickens, mostly pekin (cochin) bantams, french black copper marans (from France) and isa browns.

The hen with the chicks was a pekin bantam, and chicks were tiny.
But now that s/he is feathering I think at least daddy is a black copper marans.

What do you think, can it be a pekin bantam - bcm hybrid? Also, pullet or roo?

First picture is around 1 week old, other pics are of today, s/he should be around 3.5 to 4 weeks old now.
Its name is Hana/Hans, and we will love it either way. <3

Ty!

I can't tell you the breed(s), but I think you have a cockerel. Do you have other chicken buddies for him?
Hi! Yes, we have adult hens, with whom s/he spends some hours with. But none of them was a willing mama so he sleeps at home with us until s/he is at least 8 weeks old and move with them.

These are some of our girls, we have 3 isa brown, 2 blue andalusian and 2 black castellanas.

The yellow skin points towards Cochin, or possible Cochin mix. A Marans parent would pass on white skin, but if there was a Marans that is white/yellow skin split, yellow skinned chicks can be produced.
So, I'm thinking she may possibly be a Cochin X Isa Brown, if not pure Cochin bantam. It's not completely unusual to have reddish, or white(Not present in your bird)color in black juvenile plumage. It molts out.

I'm thinking pullet is the gender.

Thank you! I will update next week with new pics, as now s/he is changing quickly.

As there are no wattles and the comb is bright yellow (no pink/red) but at the same time the comb is a bit big for a pullet I’m totally at a loss about its gender. Also very slow feathering, all our girls already were fully covered with tails by 4 weeks and much bigger in size.

It’s an adventurer and even my wolfdog fears it now, as it pecks him and runs after him to peck him more. But our isa brown girls do the same to him, so not an only-rooster thing to harass the dog hehehe!

You're welcome.

One more week! Now around 5 weeks old, copper/black feathers coming in in breast area, no wattle development… but the comb is somewhat big and depending on the light goes from yellow to orange… pictures are not great, but it won’t stop moving.
We bought a dna sexing test and will be getting results next week (Here it costs 4€). We want to call it by its name already and the suspense is killing us 😅

Another week! Now around 6 weeks, still no wattles… but comb is big and yellow/orange depending on the moment. Still waiting for dna results, should arrive this week… but I think we may have a Hans and not a Hana 😅

It has beautiful rust/black feathers on head, neck and breast. Rest is black with green shine. This week it got a small feather bun on top of its head. 💕

PS. Photos are horrible done in the studio yesterday night.
