What breed and gender is our chick?

This is so random that a restaurant gave you a chick! Where is this restaurant and why don't restaurants do this for me! šŸ¤£
In Spain! The restaurant is in Cabrera de Mar. Itā€™s an old family farmhouse (made of stone and from the XII century) the same family that owns it run the restaurant. Itā€™s quite common here for rural area restaurants to have their own chickens for eggs/chicken and grow their own vegetables. Kids can go play with the animals while adults have coffee after lunch, and sometimes they come back with a chick, which my daughter did šŸ˜…

Itā€™s called ā€œCa els Fraresā€, if want to look it up, has an interesting history šŸ˜Š

It's amazing! Honestly, I am viewed as completely nuts where I live to own chickens, it's not remotely normal so I have no hope of a restaurant owning chickens or growing their own veg let alone them giving chicks away.

It must be amazing where you live šŸ„°

How he sleeps on the couch with our daughter šŸ„°
In a week he is moving permanently with the adult hens (he still sleeps at home with us in a big dog crate) as he is now big enoughā€¦ and Iā€™m going to miss this so much šŸ™ˆ

Beyond precious.

Once he goes out with the big girls, it would be best not to treat him as a pet any longer. You don't want him turning into a spoiled disrespectful, nasty rooster.

Yeah I knowā€¦ thatā€™s why this is the last week and then he will stay the nights in the coop too (he is there during the day now).

9 weeks! Still no wattles šŸ˜… maybe because of the silkie part? As cochin bantams and bcm normally should have wattles by now right?
