The lady I got my chickens from didnt know how to sex them and she didnt really know what breed they were due to having so many types of chickens. Help me!! =]]

I am certainly no expert, but taking a guess I'd say maybe cuckoo marans? Possibly silver laced wyandotte, but the copper touches make me think marans as I have a similar one in my yard. :)

How old? I'm guessing pullet, but need to see saddle feathers for sure for that determination. GL!!

this is no marans and if your "marans" look like this I'm sorry to say you do not have marans

this is an easter egger not ameraucana and it is a pullet. she will most likely lay a green colored egg possible blue and maybe some other color like white or brown depends on her genetics

So the name you are thinking is an easter egger? I'm new to the chicken world. How can you tell if its a pullet? I have 4 other chickens I would like you all to see lol Im not sure how old any of them are.. like I said the woman who gave me them didn't really know...

Here are the others. I was told all of them were girls.

Silkie

Barred Rock

Silkie

They're barnyard mixes. Parent birds included something barred, a Silkie, and probably an EE but none of these look like hatchery-bred "pure" anything.

That is NOT good news for me!!

I'd originally ordered BCM and when I got these, was told they were a cuckoo marans as substitute. As it was more of a breed thing than a colour thing, I went along no problem. Now, I might have a problem...!

Not that I don't like EEs. I do. I have ameracaunas and tried for EEs earlier this year (roo I had at the time proved infertile and I didn't get a hatch), but when you buy something and are told it's one thing and turns out to be another... SIGH

What are saddle feathers?

So, having only been 'chickening' for a year now, this is my understanding and I'd certainly appreciate input as to what I say, right or wrong:

As they mature, chicks get a 'second set' of feathers. I think at around 9 weeks. At that time, if any of your chicks are roos, you'll notice pointy feathers (instead of gently rounded) near the base of the tail, as well as on the neck (hackle area). The new feathers will be so shiny as to look 'wet'. It is these feathers that id a roo or a pullet. Well, and a roo may begin to crow at that age too.

You have a lovely bunch of barnyard mixes ~ enjoy them! Regardless of whether or not a chicken is 'purebred' is a matter of personal taste (no pun intended) and ALL chickens are a joy to watch and work with. *Love* the ones you have with feathered feet. Too cute!

Have fun!!!

The lady you bought her own hatchery birds in different varieties, and she is just mixing them together with no breeding control whatsoever.
