What breed and gender is this chicken??

What other black chicken breed do you know of that has paler eyes. The majority of them if not all have dark eyes, that's why I think black stars eyes are different. You may not be able to see that but I can, and if it makes my breed guesses more accurate than I don't really care what you think.
None of my hens have dark eyes, and none are BSLs.

And here’s a Black Sexlink with dark eyes.

Eye color typically has nothing to do with breed/cross.
It’s not very accurate.
And BSLs are a cross of Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock. Both those breeds have medium orange eyes. Where on earth would their chicks get “different” eyes?

I think they just had made an observation that Black Sexlinks typically have light eyes. For the most part, that is true because often they're made with Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds. When compared to the deep brown (almost black) marble looking eyes of an Australorp, they'd certainly appear light. Eye color has everything to do with breed. The APA standard lists exact colors for every breed. While hatchery birds can deviate, for the most part they stick with the trend. Now can a Black Sexlink have dark eyes-absolutely but this suggests that a less common cross is used to create it. :) They are certainly not always made from BRs and RIRs.

True. What it sounded like they were saying, though, was that BSLs have “special” eyes that no other bird has.
I was just trying to show that was false.

That wasn't what I was saying, I was saying that most other black breeds have dark mottled eyes. The EE you showed as a example first of all wasn't a black chicken and second I wasn't saying that only BSL have pale orange eyes other not black chickens also have orange eyes, but you skimmed over my post only seeing what you thought was wrong.
