What breed and gender is this chicken??

Here's our story:

Early November '09 I was given this chicken as a couple-week old chick.
A bloke at work rescued it from a cat, and long story short, we have had him/her as a pet.

Now, we've always assumed it was a hen, but recently, we're not so sure. In fact we're 80-90% sure it's a rooster,but what breed I don't know
That's where you guys (and gals) come in.

Please help out if you can!

Silver spangled hamburg maybe? Does the chest have "teardrops"? The pic is a bit dark.

I think the legs are the wrong color now that I look at it harder.

it looks like a rooster im sorry but he is really pretty as far as the breed im not sure i just stck with silkies

I'd probably say hatchery quality spangled hamburg rooster - But shee, there is so much black on him that I'd wonder. If any else, it would be a sebright cross.

Hey Mike , I can't help with breed identification but do have a suggestion . If you are from outside the U.S. you might let people know as there are European and Australian breeds and breed varieties that the majority of people on this forum are not famialar with .
