Males usually start growing saddle and hackle feathers at about that age, some develop later than others. With the comb and wattles that large and red I still think it's male, and it just hasn't got it's full set of adult feathers yet. Cockerels can remain tame once they hit puberty - I have a lovely silkie cockerel that's about 10 months old who is still very nice to me. He hit puberty about 5 months ago, and I have always been able to pick him up and cuddle him whenever I want. However, not all cockerels will remain docile once the hormones kick in. They may even become aggressive towards you.So that's a good sign ? He could be she ? One question . If it is a he would he remain this tame ?
