I was given 27 chicks from a school laboratory project and have raised them up. The school told me they had ordered RIRs from a hatchery, but it was very clear that the chicks were no such thing as they were fluffy yellow and not red at all. As they have matured, the hens are all white with one being slightly buff colored. The Roosters are mostly white, with full red combs and some black flecks in their wings. Two or three have large reddish brown spots on their wings and some light gold feathers in their hackles. They have full red combs and wattles. At first I thought Rhode Island Whites, but the eggs are beige, very light brown, almost pinkish. Then I thought maybe Amberlink, but I think they have brown eggs and no reddish brown spots. Recently someone guessed they were White Stags but those don't have combs and their tails are long and tall. Could they be a cross between a White Leghorn and a RIR. Tomorrow I'll include some pics.
