So I am new to the whole duck raising thing. Quite honestly I have no clue about them whatsoever. I have been reading so much on them to make sure I am feeding them the right stuff and their pen is perfect and so on that I have skipped over figuring out what kind I have.

I bought them from a woman on craigslist. I found out later that this woman has had animal control called on her mulitple times because of how she treats her animals or I should say doesn't treat them. A older couple I know filled me in on her and it all makes sense.

I am told they are 4 weeks old but to me they seem big for only being 4 weeks, but like i said I am learning about them.

I believe the white one is a pekin but can anyone give me any ideas on the brown one? Their names are Aflac(how original right? lol) and Bob. I have no clue what Bob is.

Can anyone help me?

Also Aflac has been constantly panting and when I have picked him up his legs are very warm. Is he overheating? They have a pond to swim in.

They're gorgeous.

I'd say about 4-5 weeks old. Probably closer to 5.

The white one is a Pekin, but if the other one has brown feathers (not just brown fluff) then I'd say he's mixed breed. People will tell you Swedish but in reality it is not hard to produce a dark coloured duck with a bib without it being pure Swedish. He's really cute though!

The one that is panting may be hot. It could also be stress (just from all the changes that have happened). Fresh cool water and shade are good. Are they both eating and drinking well? Are they doing normal things like preening and looking interested in their surroundings)?

To encourage dabbling in the water and cooling off you can chop up some greens (even young grass) and put them in a bowl of water.

They look awesome. i couldnt tell you what the brown one is but i agree there about 5 weeks. ducks seem to grow remarkably fast and before long there big and heavy like mine :D my duck pants all the time like a dog but it usually means his thirsty because as soon as he has some water his fine. if your ducks love to swim i suggest offer a place for swimming but if they dont seem to enjoy it just leave it. mine are terrified of water deeper than they can stand in and they as terrified of rain also. the run around looking for shelter from the rain. i usually spary them of call them ofer and dunk them in water so they all soaked and let them dry off by themselves. helps them keep cool and saves on me spending hours trying to get them to swim :D

They both are eating and drinking just fine. They have a little kid pool that I empty and put fresh water in each day and they love to hang out in it. But it seems when Aflac is out of the pool that is when he starts the panting.

They are both interested in the surroundings too. I let them out of their pen every day and they do stay close to it they will venture out further every now and then.

The brown one is the leader and the white one - well he is just the follower. I think he might be part chicken hahaha.

Thanks for the help!!!
