Without going into a lot of detail, I’ve always had a hard time with TSC chicks. From wrong genders (7 out of 8 “pullets” were roo’s) to sick and dying chicks. Told myself I was no longer going to buy chicks from them, but couldnt say no to them when I went in for gardening supplies. I am looking to increase my colored layers in my flock, and bought 4 chicks that are supposed to be EE’s and we’re in the EE bin. I told them to just pick 4 random ones. They were mixed with australorps - but that was it supposedly- now that we’re home I’m second guessing that. First off, they all have pale pink legs. Two of the yellow ones remind me of BO chicks, and the other two while they have chipmunk coloring, still have pale legs. Is it possible that those two are still EE’s? Looking thru Hoover Hatcheries catalog (who supplies TSC), im questioning if they arnt brown leg horns, bielefelders, or something else.

What do you think?

I don’t think you have any EEs, here’s my two (the brown ones) I got from TSC, but maybe they were different colored

I think your correct…. Colors are similar, but the legs on yours have a greenish tinge which is normal for EE, and mine are pink.

Guess I got bamboozled again by TSC:he
I’m so sorry! They could be OEGBs, but they’re regular sized. Hope someone can help, breeds aren’t my Specialty. Good luck ❤️

They might still be Easter Eggers. When I look through Hoover's catalog, I find "Easter Eggers" but also "Starlight Green Eggers" and "Olive Eggers" and a number of other kinds of colored-layers as well. Any of those could reasonably be called "Easter Eggers" if they didn't want to bother with all the fancy names.

The listing for "Easter Eggers" explains that they have several types, including ones with pea combs (what we're used to seeing on EEs) and one with single combs (I can see single combs on some of your chicks.) Likewise, the "Olive Eggers" description mentions several different crosses (the Welsummer-Legbar cross could easily produce chicks like your darker, chipmunk-striped ones.)

So I cannot say for sure whether they are Easter Eggers or not, but at least they MIGHT be.

In the second picture, the chick on the far right has a red-and-yellow stripe pattern on its back. That one is definitely not a Buff Orpington, because Buffs have a color that is much more even when they are chicks. I think the other yellow one has the same pattern of stripes, but I'm not entirely sure because it's holding its wings right over the edge of the stripes (if there are stripes.)

I don't think you'll be able to tell for sure until they grow up and lay eggs (assuming they are female.) But I'd love to see pictures as they grow, because they will probably be pretty birds!

I just bought some chicks from TSC last week. The two orange ones with faint stripes on the back look exactly like the golden comets I got (at least they told me they were golden comets.)

I have some starlight green eggers from TS and yours look just like them 😉 you may not get the tint you were hoping, but they’re great layers and i think green eggs look better next to brown, anyway 💚🤎
