What breed are these chicks?

Had a poor hatch with only one surviving chick, so I got a couple of chicks for company. These two came from the “Assorted Rare Breeds” bin and I am guessing Buff Orpington. Does that seem accurate?

Where were they purchased from? I wouldn't consider Buff Orpingtons rare and the feathers emerging look more white. Is this lighting?
I noticed that as well, but you have to remember the term “rare“ is used rather loosely by hatcheries and TSC.😊
We also have to assume that the bin marked rare actually had the chicks that were supposed to be in there.🤔

I agree. They looked like Red Sexlinks to me but I was going to wait for more information before mentioning it :)

Agreed on all counts. It would not surprise me if they moved chicks around so there weren’t any loners in a bin. The feathers are coming in white. Not sure what color you would call these legs, but the color is accurate to life. The hatcheries they get their chicks from are Hoover and Dunlap. I’m not bothered if they’re sex links, I know what I’m getting into with feed store chicks and didn’t have high expectations on anything. I was needing companions for the lone chick and am hoping they end up being relatively friendly and produce a decent amount of eggs. If they’re sex links, I’ll get at least one of the two, and I won’t have to deal with a cockerel.
