Rhode island red are pure breeds and novogens and Isa browns are red sex links which are crosses for egg production reasons.

Okay. So...red sexlinks are a sexlinked cross. This cross can be made by several breeds. Novogens are a specific red sexlink cross. They are a cross between a Rhode Island Red and White Leghorn.

An ISA brown is a sexlink.

Rhode Island Reds are used in the breeding of red sexlinks. They are purebreds and certainly not your birds.

just asking, what's the difference between a mottled java, and a sussex?

Leg color, pattern, egg color, origin….
Java’s are mottled and black based.
Sussex are mottled and brown/red based.
Java’s have yellow skin, Sussex have pink.
Sussex lay cream-colored eggs while Java’s lay a shade or two darker.

Red Sexlink:

Production Red (commonly sold as RIR)

RSLs will always have white mixed in.
RIRs should be a rich mahogany color, and PRs will be a shade lighter.
