Newbie here! I picked up these chicks from a TSS in Bainbridge, GA. They were in a tub marked "pullets" so they are supposed to be hens. The clerks did say they were several different breeds mixed all together in the tub, but no one could tell me the name of the breed and/or breeds. Honestly, they all look the same to me. Sorry about the pics that are upside down. Not sure why they keep showing up that way. Thanks for your help.

It's too early to say for sure.

Most likely guess is white leghorn, with white Rock being a possibility. I don't think they're cornish cross, I'd think they'd be bigger. They could also be some leghorn based hybrid layer.

They seemed pretty big compared to the feeder, and they've already feathered pretty well which is why I guessed cornish. Time will tell :D

I'm assuming you mean "broilers" to eat. No, I really wanted the hens to lay eggs. I guess it'll be easier to tell what they are when they get a little older. Thanks for responding.

And my thought was they're already feathered in some, so they're a few weeks old. CX of a few weeks old are much larger in my experience, by the time they're that feathered they're obvious meat birds.

So you don't think mine are only a week old? The TSS got them on 3/26 and I bought them on 3/31. They eat and drink very well and try to fly in the plastic bin. One sits up on top of the glass jar and flaps her wings like she wants to take off!

I see what you mean! I went back to the TSS and spoke with the manager and he said they were White Leghorns, but he thought they were a little older when they were shipped. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I should have called and spoke with him instead of going in person. They got a new shipment of RIR, and I came home with four.

I'm not going anywhere near the TSS for a very long time!
